John Highton

3rd of October, 2021

It is with great sadness that the Trust has lost its longest serving trustee, John Highton. Following a brave battle with illness, John passed away in August.

John was one of the original volunteers to take on that role and he worked tirelessly throughout his time with the Trust, right up to his last meeting in July of this year. As a committed hands-on trustee he made a significant contribution to delivering the Permissive Footpaths, the Peace Garden, the renovation of Worsick’s Farmhouse and many other village attributes such as the information boards and quotes, in and around the estate.

He contributed a great deal to the Trust and ultimately to the village. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts continue to be with Olive and his family.

In due course, the trustees intend to provide a fitting memorial to John in celebration of all he gave to Great Singleton
